Joseph Lu serves as a Portfolio Manager at Cutler Investment Group, bringing a diverse background in both institutional asset management and entrepreneurial investment leadership. Prior to joining Cutler, he was the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of Conscious Capital Advisors, a registered investment advisor focused on liquid alternative strategies.
Earlier in his career, Joseph held portfolio management and analyst roles across Los Angeles and Orange County, working with several well-known institutional asset managers, including Ares Management, Capital Group, Kayne Anderson Rudnick, and Wilshire Associates. These experiences shaped his analytical approach to investing and reinforced his interest in understanding how different market environments impact portfolio construction and long-term decision-making.
Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He is affiliated with the CFA Societies of Los Angeles and Orange County.
Joseph’s approach to investing is rooted in curiosity and a desire to understand complex systems—whether in markets or beyond. He values working with clients who are thoughtful, engaged, and open to exploring ideas, and he believes that strong relationships are at the center of meaningful financial decisions.
Outside of the office, Joseph enjoys a wide range of interests, from cultivating plants to working on his car. While different on the surface, both hobbies reflect his appreciation for how individual components work together within a larger system. He is also an avid reader with interests spanning business, psychology, geopolitics, and technology, and volunteers his time as a leadership and emotional intelligence coach.
