Matt Patten’s journey into finance started overseas—as a high school student studying abroad in Germany, he quickly discovered the challenges of managing money from a distance (and the even greater challenge of justifying those expenses to his parents). That early lesson in financial accountability laid the foundation for a global career that’s taken him from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and ultimately to Jacksonville, Oregon—an historic town of 2,000 residents that, while far from Wall Street, has become the heart of Cutler Investment Group. 

Since 2003, Matt has served as co-Portfolio Manager of the Cutler Equity Fund, sharing management responsibilities with his brother for even longer than they shared a bedroom growing up. He also serves as Chairman and Treasurer of the Cutler Trust, maintaining oversight of the Cutler Equity Fund and ensuring its alignment with the firm’s core values of consistency, transparency, and long-term thinking. 

Matt is also deeply invested in youth leadership and community development. He serves as Scoutmaster for his local Scout troop and is the immediate past Chair for Service Territory One of Scouting America, where he oversaw programs across much of the Western U.S. and Asia. He’s a past Board President of the Crater Lake Council, former Chair of the Britt Music & Arts Festival, and past President of the Medford Rotary Club.

Matt lives in Jacksonville, Oregon, with his wife, Diane, where they raised two sons who now consistently out-fish, out-ski, and out-hike him. When he’s not managing portfolios or guiding strategy, you’ll find him under the stars—mentoring the next generation of scouts on backcountry adventures.
